6061 is a good, general purpose aluminum alloy with magnesium and silicon as its alloying elements. 6061 has the highest resistance to corrosion of all the heat treated aluminum, but strength is lower. 6061 has a wide range of mechanical properties and is readily machined and has good forming properties. 6061 welds easily, has excellent joining characteristics, and good acceptance to anodizing and other applied coatings. Electrical conductivity is 40% of copper. 6061 shapes are available from sheet and plate at Triton utilizing our high definition plasma cutter.
6061 is commonly used for structural components, frames, brackets, jigs, fixtures, base plates, machine parts, hydraulic valve bodies, valves parts, fuse parts, gears, worm gears, rectifier parts, fasteners, truck and marine components, marine fittings and hardware, electrical fittings and connectors, hinge pins, magneto parts, appliance fittings, camera lens mounts, etc. 6061 is used for heavy-duty structures requiring good strength-to-weight ratio with good corrosion resistance. 6061 is easily cold worked and formed in the annealed condition. Cutting, stamping, bending, deep drawing, drilling, tapping, etc. are all readily accomplished using standard methods.

Scope
Aluminium alloy 6082 is a medium strength alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. It has the highest strength of 6000 series alloys. Alloy 6082 is known as a structural alloy. In plate form, 6082 is the alloy most commonly used for machining. As a relatively new alloy, the higher strength of 6082 has seen it replace 6061 in many applications. The addition of a large amount of manganese controls the grain structure which in turn results in a stronger alloy. It is difficult to produce to produce thin-walled, complicated extrusion shapes in alloy 6082. The extruded surface finish is not as smooth as other similar strength alloys in the 6000 series. In the T6 and T651 temper, 6082 machines well and produces tight coils of swarf when chip breakers are used.
Application
This material is used for milk churns, trusses, cranes, ore skips, beer barrels, bridges, highly stressed applications, and transport applications.

Temper Types
The most common tempers for 6082 aluminium are: O - Soft, T4 - Solution heat treated and naturally aged to a substantially stable condition, T6 - Solution heat treated and artificially aged and T651 - Solution heat treated, stress relieved by stretching then artificially aged.

Welding
6082 has very good weldability but strength is lowered in the weld zone. When welded it itself alloy 4043 wire is recommended. If welding 6082 to 7005, then the wire used should be alloy 5356.

7075 Aluminum Plate and Sheet
Aluminium Alloy 3.4365 (7075) Plate has been the standard workhorse 7XXX series alloy within the aerospace industry. Zinc is the primary alloying element in 7075 and was the first successful Al-Zn-Mg-Cu high strength alloy using the beneficial effects of the alloying addition of chromium to develop good stress-corrosion cracking resistance in sheet products. 7075 Aluminum has a lower level of corrosion resistance and has no weldability, i.e. it is not weldable. This particular kind of alloy is known for its level of fatigue strength, however, it is only average when it comes to machinability.7075 Aluminum Applications
7075 Aluminum is one of the highest strength aluminum alloys made for the industrial and consumer markets. Although other 7XXX alloys have since been developed, Alloy 7075 remains the baseline with a good balance of properties required for aerospace applications. In terms of application, it is perfect for parts that have areas that are highly stressed. These specific strength properties are ideal for the construction of military grade rifles, plastic industry molds, bicycle part, and equipment as well as aircraft structures.
7075 T651 Aluminum
7075 T651 Aluminum is also available and is best suited for aviation and aerospace applications. Ultimately, if strength is what you need, this particular tempered alloy also has higher tensile strength.

We stock 7075 T651 in thickness from .125" to 8.0" thick, x 48.5 or 60.5 wide x 144.5" long, we do carry some thicknesses of 7050 T7451 and would entertain quotes for any thickness you have. Anodizing is the controlled process of chemically applying a protective layer of glass hardness in thicknesses of 2-20 micrometers to the surface of the aluminum sheet.

Alloys suitable for anodizing:
The best alloy for anodizing is ENAW5005 H14/24, which provides for the repeatability of production, especially in design, and for batches of the same look. Nearly all aluminum alloys of the ENAW1xxx, ENAW3xxx ENAW5xxx, series can be anodised.

1100 aluminum is the most commercially pure alloy of all the aluminum grades. 1100 aluminum coil and 1100 aluminum sheet are both available for various applications including chemical storage and processing equipemtn. Benefits of 1100 aluminum coil & sheet include a 99% or greater content of aluminum compared to other grades of aluminum. 1100 is a low strength aluminum alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. This grade is best used for welding, brazing and soldering but has poor machinability. Alloy 1100 or 19000 aluminum has great finishing capabilities so it is a great choice for decorative purposes.

Alloy 5083 aluminum plates have higher strength than 5052 plate and has exceptional thermal conductivity. In the tempered condition, it retains good formability due to excellent ductility. It is highly suitable for welding and can be hardened by cold work. Because Alloy 5083 exhibits excellent resistance to general corrosion, it is used in marine applications. Since Alloy 5083 is capable of withstanding extremely low temperatures without brittleness or loss of properties, it is especially suited to the cryogenic market.

5083 - ''0'' - H111 Sheet and Plate
Aluminium 5083 is known for exceptional performance in extreme environments. 5083 is highly resistant to attack by both seawater and industrial chemical environments.Alloy 5083 also retains exceptional strength after welding. It has the highest strength of the non-heat treatable alloys but is not recommended for use in temperatures in excess of 65°C.

Temper Types
The most common tempers for 5083 aluminium are:
- O - Soft
- H111 - Some work hardening imparted by shaping processes but less than required for H11 temper

Weldability
